FOSTER CITY, Calif.—Security Systems News today announced it is launching the security industry's first conference dedicated to all things cloud. Cloud+ will take place Dec. 7-8 in Silicon Valley at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City, Calif.
“Cloud is the new frontier in security,” said Tim Purpura, VP and group publisher of Security Systems News. “We're at a crossroads today with cloud technology. Just as early adopters jumped on IP 12 years ago, early adopters today are moving to the cloud,” he said.
Cloud+ is the only event where security dealers, integrators, monitoring companies and other security professional can delve into how cloud technology is now reshaping the security industry, what the potential is for the future and how cloud will affect companies' bottom lines.
And, Cloud+ is the only place you can see physical security cloud technology in one room. The conference will also feature an exhibit hall solely focused on cloud-based technology.
“Cloud-based systems are proliferating, but it's still the early days,” said Martha Entwistle, editor of Security Systems News and editorial director of TechSec Solutions and Cloud+. “There are misconceptions to clear up, business models to understand and technology to explore.”
“The conference will take a TechSec-style approach. Expect frank discussions, spirited debates and speakers who are among the industry's most knowledgeable and well-respected cloud experts,” Entwistle said.
Said Steve Van Till, CEO of Brivo, a pioneer in cloud-based technology: "The physical security industry's first-ever Cloud+ conference in Silicon Valley is hugely symbolic, but it's really much more than that. It marks a tipping point in the security market's evolution from historical on-premise solutions to a contemporary cloud-based architecture. The implications for the industry and its customers are profound."
Educational session topics will include: End user experiences with cloud—use cases and ROI comparisons; Sending video to the cloud—options, limitations and ROI; Cloud and the installers' migration from resi to commercial systems; Cloud and the emergence of the new security dealer; Data center differences—what you need to know; and more.
Van Till and Jay Hauhn, former CTO for Tyco and current executive director of CSAA, are advising Entwistle on the Cloud+ educational program. For more information about the educational program, please contact Martha Entwistle at mentwistle@securitysystemsnews.com.
